CFP: 2015 Subconference

 2015 Subconference Call for Proposals

 ***Please circulate widely***

 Location: Chicago IL, April 21-25

Deadline for Submissions: Feb 27, 2015

The 2015 subconference, as in past years, offers a space for radical academics and activists to think critically and creatively about the connections between geography, higher education, and social/political change. As in past years, we have secured space inside the AAG conference (thanks to many volunteers) on Tuesday, April 21st, and there are also possibilities of holding events outside of the official conference spaces throughout the week.

We would like to hear your proposals and ideas for this year's subconference (for more information on past meetings, see ). Some possible themes that have emerged from past meetings include:

- Development of advising and mutual aid communities - sharing intellectual and professional expertise and resources

- Discussion of adjunctification of university labor and building worker struggles in an age of precarity

- Alternative walking tours of Chicago, and connecting with local activists

- Collaborations and events with academics and activists from Chicago outside the conference

- Discussion of alternative modes of academic production - zines, cartoons, videos

- Creation of a disorientation guide or alternative program highlighting radical sessions at the AAG conference

If you and/or your group are interested in taking on and/or simply helping to organize an event such as any listed above, the subconference wants to help you organize and publicize it.

Please see and/or contact by February 27th, 2015 to get started. If you are interested in joining the subconference organizing committee, please contact us ASAP!
